Electronic Delivery of Forvm

An American Mensa motion recently passed will change the default to electronic delivery. Local groups will send electronic newsletters to everybody with an email address on file, except those who specifically request paper.

  1. If you want electronic delivery and have a listed email address, you will automatically receive the electronic copy.
  2. If you want electronic delivery but don’t have a listed email address, you will need to enter one on the national website.
  3. If you want paper, you will need to change the default by going to the national website or by calling them.

Forvm is the official newsletter of Central New Jersey Mensa (CNJM). Mensa is a not-for-profit society for intelligent people worldwide. We welcome exchange with other recognized Mensa publications.

Contributor Copyright Agreement and Release

By submitting an original item for publication in Forvm, the contributing writer, artist, or photographer indicates having read and agreeing to the following. The copyright to creative material belongs to the originator, even when the publication is copyrighted by CNJM. The originator grants CNJM a license to publish the contributed item and to any other Mensa Local Group to republish the creative material, provided that appropriate attribution is given, crediting both the originator and CNJM. The recommended format is “By [Originator Name], reproduced from Forvm of Central New Jersey Mensa”. However, if a copyright notice for the originator appears with the item, specific permission to reproduce the item must be obtained directly from the originator. It is the policy of CNJM to publish items only when the original source of the creative material is known and rights to reproduce it have been granted to CNJM.

Submitting to the Forvm

  • Send contributions: Email the editor at m.kaarsgaren@gmail.com. The Editor will determine if and when a contribution is published. No anonymous submissions will be printed. Submissions from Mensans receive priority. The content of each issue of Forvm is copyrighted by CNJM except for material individually noted otherwise.
  • File Format: Send articles and letters as plain text or a Word/Pages document, which may be attached to emails. Please spell check, proofread, and correct your submission before sending.
  • Length: The maximum length of articles and columns is 850 words; letters, 300 words. Submissions may be serialized and/or edited for clarity, accuracy, and length.
  • Graphics: The formats for graphics are .jpg or .png files. Photos should be scanned at 300 dpi.
  • Event Calendar: Notices may be 150 words, but 75 or fewer is preferred. If your event needs a longer text, please submit a short notice and a separate text to be printed as an article. Include event title, date, day, time, location, how to identify the group in a public place, cost, pet(s) in residence, what to bring, brief description, and contact information. Submissions may be edited for clarity, accuracy, and length.
  • Deadline: The deadline for the Forvm and Event Calendar is the 1st of the month previous to publication (e.g., for the January issue, submit by December 1).

Mensa is an international society in which the sole requirement for membership is a score at or above the 98th percentile on any of a number of standard IQ tests. American Mensa Ltd. is a not-for-profit organization, has no political or religious affiliations, holds no opinions, and functions only to bring intelligent people together.
