We offer two ways to take the Mensa Admission Test: sessions proctored by Local Group volunteers, and private test sessions administered at more than 400 approved testing facilities nationwide.

Qualify With Prior Test Scores
Not sure you need to test? You may already qualify. Mensa accepts qualifying scores from roughly 150 standardized tests, and nearly two-thirds of members join this way — no Mensa test required. Scores can come from testing done at school, college, or in the military, at any point in your life.
A few commonly accepted tests and their qualifying scores:
- SAT — 1300 (before 9/30/1974) or 1250 (9/30/1974–1/31/1994)
- GRE — 1250 verbal + quantitative (before 5/1994)
- LSAT — 95th percentile (after 1982)
- Stanford-Binet — IQ 132; Wechsler (WAIS/WISC) — Full-Scale IQ 130
- Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) — composite SAS 132
Documentation must be an original or notarized copy from the school, psychologist, or military that administered the test. To submit, email MensaAdmissions@AmericanMensa.org.
